Chishtiya Silsila
Founding Of The Chishty Order
The Chishtiya order is one of the most popular and influential mystic orders of Islam. It derives its name from Chist-E-Sharif, a village near Heart in Afghanistan, where the real founder, Hazrat Khawaja Abu Ishaq Chishty (RA) of Syria, had settled by the command of his spiritual Peer (Guide) Hazrat Khawaja Mamshad Ali Dinwari (RA).Once Hazrat Khawaja Abu Ishaq Shami (RA) approached Hazrat Khawaja Mimshad Ali Deenari (RA) in Baghdad with the intention of becoming his mureed (disciple). Hazrat Khawaja Mimshad (RA) asked him by what name he is known by, he replied, 'This humble being is called as Abu Ishaq Shami'.There upon Hazrat Khawaja Mimshad (RA) said to him, ' From today onward, you will be known as Abu Ishaq Shami Chishty and whoever enters this spiritual fold till the day of resurrection will be likewise called Chishty'. Therefore, whoever enters this Chishty silsila, is entitled to be called a Chishty. With the consent and command of his spiritual teacher, Hazrat Khawaja Abu Ishaq of Syria, reached and settled at Chist-E-Sharif in Afghanistan and busied himself in worship, preaching and Mujaheda.
